Deer aren’t exactly rare in Kansas – just ask the insurance companies! – but what IS rare is for me to be able to get close enough to one and have my camera at the ready that I can get a decent photo. Sometimes I see them and by the time I get my camera turned on and the lens extended, they’re already in Oklahoma. ๐
But last fall, there was a small herd that liked to graze in a hayfield down the road and one night, this guy stood still long enough for me to get this shot:

The light coming from behind it makes a beautiful photo. i am sure you have better light than Oklahoma!
I don’t know about that – I’ve seen some spectacular light on I-35 coming back from OKC. ๐
